“Excellent Indie from the USA”
From their mini-album “Floored” (Blue Arrow Records BARCD-007) released in June, 2017.
The Pittsburgh group, est. 2012, line-up: line-up: Ben Harrison (vocals, guitar), Phil Jacoby (guitar), David Horn (bass), Cindy Yogmas (vocals, keyboards) and Sean Finn (drums). I believe Brooke Harrison guested on drums for my featured track, the wistful and dreamy “Dim” which jumped out when I heard it several months back (yes, I’m way behind with everything!), my side notes mentioning Yo La Tengo and House of Love as self-reference points, which I’d stand by.
The group’s writer and driving force is Ben Harrison who, by day, serves as the curator of performing arts at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, the largest museum in North America dedicated to a single artist (the pop art icon was born there). His inspirational working environment led to the creation of the band and, in a very modern trend, his music project continues at a leisurely pace, working around ‘real life’ responsibilities. To date, there’s been a self-titled full-length in 2015 (3 years in the making) as well as the 2017 mini-album.
