Courtney Barnett – Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party

• “Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party” original music video. Thanks to milkrecordsmelbourne.

7.6 “Great Indie Pop from Australia”

From her debut album “Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit” (Milk! Records) released in March, 2015.

As the press release tells, the set was recorded in the Autumn of 2014 in an intense 10 day session at Head Gap studios in Melbourne, and “finally brings Barnett’s incisive vision into stark, unflinching focus; her wit sharpened to a knife edge, her melodies more infectious and addictive than ever”.

Barnett explained the song’s meaning to art magazine, Nothing But Hope and Passion:

Everyone goes through kind of a fear of missing out if you don’t go to something – the fear that you’re not involved. I am more one of the making-an-excuse-to-not-go-out person. Sometimes, the next day I actually have the feeling I missed something, but whatever. I like my own time. I like house parties – a couple of good friends, dinner and board games. Maybe getting drunk as well. That’s fun. I don’t like meeting lots of people that I don’t know, it makes me nervous.

Heard on Rocker’s October 2015 show on Dandelion Radio.
