7.8 “Great Electronica from Ireland”

From their LP “Tundra” (R&S) released in May, 2015.

Dark and broody, just the way I like my electronica. Bhodrans optional.

Holly Dicker at Resident Advisor writes:

Ian McDonnell and Dara Smith have been making music together for over a decade, though you’d be excused for thinking they’re newcomers. It’s only in the last few years that their Lakker project has gained widespread recognition, through releases on respected labels like Killekill, Blueprint and Stroboscopic Artefacts. And while they make techno nowadays—in the loosest sense of the term—they’ve been through just about every genre to get there. (Punk, metal, broken beat and noise were some of the influences on Ruido, Lakker’s 2007 debut album.) The style has served them well so far. They count Aphex Twin, who played three of their tracks at Forbidden Fruits festival in Dublin, among a host of newfound admirers.

This was another from Kevin Robinson’s cool-for-cats July 2015 show on Dandelion Radio.

Available at good ol’ Bandcamp.
