“Fantastic New Wave from the USA”
From their album “More Songs About Buildings And Food” (Sire SRK-6058) released in 1978.
Brian Eno was in the producers chair for the second Talking Heads long-player, a set which was equally as decent as the debut, and did some great business for them, largely due to the album’s one single, a cover of the Al Green hit “Take Me to the River”, which would give them a Top 30 Billboard hit and push the album on to gold-record status.
“Thank You For Sending Me An Angel” is the big stand-out for me, listen to them GO. Who can sit still when this rhythm kicks-in? Reviewer William Ruhlmann at AMG astutely noted: “Where Talking Heads had largely been about David Byrne’s voice and words, Eno moved the emphasis to the bass-and-drums team of Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz; all the songs were danceable”.
