7.9 “Great Cerebral Pop from England”

Out as a single in May, 2015.

What a great track, shades of M.I.A. and The Knife methinks. This is what Domino had to say back in March, 2015:

The first release from Domino’s latest signing – multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter, Georgia.

Built on a truly monstrous rhythm section, ‘Move Systems’ (released as a single on 25th May 2015), is a frenetic, forceful and hugely imaginative track – offering as much cerebral charm as it does pure physical impact in the way it channels elements of early 00’s grime, dub, post-punk and hip hop into a genuinely new-sounding, globally minded brand of pop. The accompanying video, directed by Rollo Jackson (Hot Chip, Angel Haze, Danny Brown), is available to view now below.

Born and raised in north west London, the last few years have seen Georgia steadily establish herself as an important fixture in the city’s most singular and imaginative artistic circles, playing drums for Kwes and Kate Tempest among others before emerging as an irresistible creative force in her own right with last year’s Come In EP.

Heard on Andrew Morrison’s June 2015 show on Dandelion Radio.
